Philemon: Learning to Forgive

This week, Cait read from Revelation 7 to start worship, recognizing the breadth and majesty of God in all creation.

Marc provided an update on the building search and where Forward is headed next.

Marc started a new series on obscure Bible stories, passages, and letters. This week, Marc discussed Paul's letter to Philemon, a wealthy man who hosted a church in the Ephesus and Colossi region. Marc touches on the difference between slavery in the Roman world and the chattel slavery of Western history.

But Marc narrows down on the real issue of this letter: Philemon needing to forgive and have favour for a runaway slave who stole from him. Marc discusses the depth of forgiveness and how complicated this can be, but also emphasizes that as Christians, reconciliation is our goal.
